She is survived by: her children, Jeanine Tate, Jim Heitman (Karon) of Spartanburg, SC and Tim Heitman (Lilly) of Lexington, NC.. She is also survived by six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.

“What a beautiful soul Aunt Doris had. Always kind and loving. Family Christmas get together's were always the highlight of my childhood. Our family was so large and we picked names each year. Uncle Dick (Aunt Doris I'm sure) picked my name one lucky year and I was gifted with a ivory rose necklace. I still have it. ♥ I was so young but I remember feeling important, that I had received something so special and "grown up." Aunt Doris had the gift of making everyone feel special and loved.♥”
