He was predeceased by: his parents, John Owen and Lula Spry Owen; his siblings, Dorothy Smith, Jane Hege, John H Owen, James Owen and Tommie Owen; and his great grandchild Emory Hawkins.

He is survived by: his wife Doris Koonts Owen of Lexington; and his children, Keith Owen (Sue), Lou Murray, Cindy Grentzinger and Lisa Hughes (Rick). He is also survived by 7 grandchildren, and 12 great grandchildren.
