He was predeceased by: his parents, James Marvin Spainhour and Flora Dull Spainhour; his former wife Helen Thomas Spainhour; his son Kenny Spainhour; and his siblings, James, Fred, Glen, Mildred, Thelma, Linda and Shirley.
He is survived by: his children, Paul Spainhour, Jr. (Patricia), Tony Spainhour (Tammy), Lynn Treadaway, Joni Parks (Keith), Kim Sink (Jimmy) and Angie Spainhour (Robert Stevens); his daughter-in-law Robin Spainhour; and his siblings, Dallas Spainhour and Lorene Groce (Ralph). He is also survived by thirteen grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren.
