Edward Monroe Steadman Obituary

Edward Monroe "Monty" Steadman, 87, passed away Thursday, April 17, 2025, at his home. He was born in Lawrence County, TN, on November 3, 1937, to the late Fate and Frances White Steadman. Mr. Steadman was a veteran of the U.S. Army. After the service, he went to work for Monsanto in Decatur, Alabama as a maintenance specialist for 35 years and then worked for Solutia until his retirement. He loved his churches and was always a helping hand to them. Mr. Steadman was a hard worker, an avid sports fan, especially watching the Atlanta Braves, great husband, father, and grandfather. Preceding him in death were two sisters, Elois Huntley and Eula Mae Steadman; and a brother, Tommy Lee Steadman. Surviving are his loving wife of 65 years, Terra White Steadman; daughter, Susan Steadman; son, Keene Steadman (Eliana Cufino); three grandchildren, Benjamin Hunt Steadman, Bailey Kahl Steadman, and Maria Sanabria; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, April 21, 2025, at Hayworth-Miller Lewisville Chapel with Rev. James T. "Chip" Webb officiating. Burial will follow at Brookstown United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM-11:00 AM prior to the service.
