He was predeceased by: his parents, Willie McDaniel and Louise McDaniel; and his brother Billy Grey McDaniel. He is survived by: his children, Kathy McDaniel Andrews (Gregory) and Willie Lee "W. L."; his grandchildren, Taylor McDaniel (Mandy), Ethan McDaniel (Heather) and Adam Andrews; his great grandchildren, Gabe, Maddox and Sully Grey; and his siblings, Francis Roberson and Thomas McDaniel.

The family request in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care at 902 Kirkwood Street, Lenoir, NC 28645.
