He was predeceased by: his parents, Elam Arney and Lucy Price Arney; his wife Dorothy Clippard Arney; and his brother Shirley "Shot" Wayne Arney. He is survived by: his children, Lynda Friesland (John) of Lenoir, Tom Arney (Sylvia) of Lenoir and Chris Arney (Renae) of Taylorsville. He is also survived by five grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.
