It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Walter Clyde Philyaw of Lenoir, North Carolina, who passed away on March 20, 2021, at the age of 77, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Walter J. Philyaw and Rosie Lee Crump Winebarger; his siblings, Larry Joe Philyaw and Janice Lowman; and his grandson Jeremy Helton.
He is survived by: his wife Denise Ellis Philyaw; his children, David Joe Philyaw (Amanda) of Vale, Darlene Wilcox of Lenoir and Debra Eller of Lenoir; his stepdaughter Autumn Corley of Vale; his siblings, Carroll J. Philyaw (Patricia) of Lenoir, Judy Kay Price (Jim) of Bethlehem, Cora Lea Morris of Granite Falls, Martha Gragg (Dale) of Granite Falls and Sharon Edmisten of Lenoir; his half-siblings, Raymond Philyaw (Beverly) of Rhodhiss and Shirley Faye Barrett of Sawmills; his stepbrothers, Johnny Hicks (Donna) of Hudson and Chris Hicks (Kim) of Lenoir; his grandchildren, Timothy Helton (Stephanie) of Lenoir, Travis Rawls (Hayley) of Taylorsville and Chelsea Philyaw (Elijah Watson) of Collettsville; his great grandchildren, Trevor, Trey and Ragen; and his pets, Chi, Miley Sue and Fredrickson. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
