He was predeceased by: his parents, Hubert Moats and Evelyn Simmons Moats; and his brother Douglas Leon Moats. He is survived by: his wife Bonnie Sue Welch Moats; his sons, Todd Moats, Jason Moats and Troy Moats; his stepsons, Buford "Dale" Campbell (Cindy) of Granite Falls and Daniel Campbell (Linda) of Hudson; his grandchildren, Travis, Jeremy and Kayla; and his sister Anna Moats Knapp of Halifax, VA.. He is also survived by several great grandchildren.
