He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas Lloyd and Iola Francum Winkler; and his sisters, Mary Hoyle (Elgin) and Swannie Scott (Robert). He is survived by: his wife Marilyn; his children, Lisa Southard (Gregg) of Gibsonville, NC and Greg Winkler (Revonda) of Lenoir, NC; his niece Roberta Whittington (Brian) of Lenoir; his sister-in-law Dianne Williams of Valdese; and his grandchildren, Ashton Southard (Doug Everhart) of Madison Heights, MI and Will Southard.

Due to COVID-19 social distancing and masks will be required.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN, 38105.
