He was loved and cherished by many people including: his grandfather Tom; his parents, Adam Barrier and Lola Singleton Barrier; his wife Freida Barrier; his son Ralph Barrier; his siblings, Evelyn Grindstaff and Roy Barrier; his children, Jim Barrier (Pla), Cindy Barrier (Dan), Lisa Gurley (Tommy) and Donald Shatley; his grandchildren, Nicole Benfield, Jamie Barrier, Stacy Barrier, Phil Barrier, Justin Barrier and Brandon Moore (Kristen); his great grandchildren, Nathaniel Surratt, Hailey Moore and Avery Moore; his siblings, Dale Barrier and Jackie Clark; and his close friends, Loretta Miller and Audrey Miller. He was also cherished by several nieces and nephews.
