He was predeceased by: his father Victor Smith Cardwell; and his siblings, Jerry Cardwell, Ted Cardwell, Barbara Cardwell and Dorothy Coffey.
He is survived by: his wife Tammy Miller Cardwell; his children, Christopher Dean Cardwell (Aria) of Boone and Heather Lorena Cardwell (Nathan Borne) of Winston-Salem; his siblings, David Cardwell (Debbie) of Lincolnton and Sue Coffey of Lenoir; his grandchild Keiri Cardwell; and his nephews, Keith and Allan Cardwell. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
