It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Sue Speagle Lilly of Lenoir, North Carolina, born in Catawba, North Carolina, who passed away on September 18, 2022, at the age of 74, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Ned Joseph Speagle and Sue Carolyn Ikerd Speagle; and her son Brent Ned Lilly. She is survived by: her daughter Shannon Lilly Reese (Garst) of Asheville; and her grandchildren, Connor Ned Reese of Asheville and Lilly Ann Reese of Asheville.

“I just heard of Sue’s passing and was shocked. I knew Sue from the time I worked with her at Brawley Middle School and later when she became Principal at Lakeshore Middle. She was an outstanding principal who I greatly respected. She had high standards for staff and students. I remember she & her husband invited all the teachers to their home to welcome us onboard to our new school. A wonderful person. Rest In Peace, Sue. Linda Orlich”
