He is survived by: his wife Kim Hamby Whaley; his children, Stephen Edward Whaley, Jr. (Hanna) of Lenoir, Nathaniel L. Hartley of Lenoir and Chelsea N. Whaley of Lenoir; his grandchildren, Paris, Zoe, Stormie, Alexander, Sofia and Sawyer; and his brother Gary Roberts.
