With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Shirley Hendrix Grimes (Lenoir, North Carolina), who passed away on April 25, 2020 at the age of 84. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Glenn Hendrix and Mildred Jones Hendrix; and her husband Richard Grimes. She is survived by: her brothers, Leon Hendrix, Otto Hendrix and Kermit Hendrix; her son Darryl A. Perkins (Marva Lynne) of Rural Hall; her nephews, Dr. Vaughn Hendrix (Marian) of Charlotte and Gary Hendrix (Jan) of Chicago; her niece Iris Haynes of Charlotte; and her grandchildren, Roderick Ferguson of Lenoir, Dr. Suzanne Smith of Durham, Jonathan Bowers (Heather) of Chapel Hill, Adrianna Ferguson of Morrisville, Steven Pleasant of Honolulu, HI, Tarlisa Pleasant of Orlando, FL, Maisha Cherry-Wells of Houston, TX, Trier Wells of Greensboro and Tatianna Flowers of Rural Hall, NC. She is also survived by great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, great nieces, great nephews and extended family.
The family will not be receiving friends due to the covid-19 pandemic, but invite any who wish to view Mrs. Grimes to come by Pendry's Lenoir Funeral Home on Tuesday, April 28, 2020 between the hours of 1:00 pm and 5:00 pm where they will have the opportunity to view.
