She was predeceased by: her parents, Phillip C. Hartley and Emma Mae Bolick Hartley; her husband Ransom Beard; and her brother James Hartley. She is survived by: her close friend James Patrick; her children, John Beard (Lana) of Granite Falls, Michael Beard (Vickie) of Lenoir, Ransom Beard, Jr. (Annette) of Lenoir and Anita Hatcher (Douglas) of Lenoir; her sisters, Betty Lovins of Lenoir, Louise Robbins of Lenoir, Edith Smith of Lenoir and Shirley Davis of Lenoir; and her sister-in-law Mae Hartley of Lenoir. She is also survived by twelve grandchildren; twenty-four great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
