He was predeceased by: his father Lee Green Steele; his sister Jeanette Steele Land; and his great-niece Bailey Reis. He is survived by: his wife Judy Gallo Steele; his daughters, Christine Gates (Brad) of Lenoir and Regina Parker of Jackson, FL; his brother David Carlton Steele (Elizabeth) of Lenoir; his grandchildren, Alexandria Sexton (Adam), Courtney Parker and Gavin Parker; his great grandchild Anderson Dominic Sexton; his nieces, Becky Reis (Walter) of Blowing Rock and Melanie Land of Granite Falls; and his nephew John David "J. D." Steele (Laura) of Colorado.
