He is survived by: his son Mark Ray Carlton (Teresa) of Lenoir; his grandchildren, Christopher Ray Carlton, Carrie Self, Travis Lowman and Kristen Barr; and his great grandchildren, Jeffery Self, Abigail Self, Thomas Self, Rilynn Barr and Kodi Lowman.
