She was predeceased by: her father Hugh Setzer Austin; her husband Franklin James Byers; her parents-in-law, James and Mildred Byers; and her son-in-law Michael Kelly.
She is survived by: her children, Melinda B. Kelly of Lenoir and Michael A. Byers (Sandra) of Lenoir; her grandchildren, Daniel R. Byers (Hannah) of Durham, NC, Sarah Cuthbert (Dale) of Lenoir, Katy Kirby of Lenoir and McKenzie Kirby of Lenoir; her great grandchildren, Kylah Marie Corpening and Elijah James Byers; her brother Roger H. Austin of Lenoir; her niece Amy A. Turner (Johnny) of Lenoir; her nephew Matthew Austin (Marla) of Omaha, NE; her cousins, William David Martin (Beverly) and Donna M. Linkous (David) of Hickory; her siblings-in-law, Chana B. Beach, Norma B. Dorion, Brenda B. Bentley of Lenoir and John R. Byers of Hickory; her nieces and nephews, Jason Whisnant (Pru) of Lenoir, Joseph Bentley of Lenoir, Greg Bentley of Tampa, FL, Nick Dorion of Lenoir, Jennifer B. Edwards of Lenoir, Donna B. Oliver of Lenoir and Deebee B. Brown of Lenoir; and her close friends, Maggie and Jake. She is also survived by numerous other nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, cousins.
