She was predeceased by: her parents, F. R. Layell and Vallie Adams Layell; and her brothers, John Layell, Heburn Layell and Kelly Layell.

She is survived by: her husband Leroy Peek; her children, Travis Peek of Lenoir and Ladatha Pennell (Joel) of Lenoir; her sisters, Ruth Combs of Georgia, Florence Combs of Ronda, NC and Carol Watts of Whiteville, NC; and her grandchildren, Thomas "TJ" Pennell, Alex Pennell, Lauren Peek and Chelsea Peek. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
