He is survived by: his children, Jimmy E. Penley of West Jefferson, Dale J. Penley of West Jefferson, Joe L. Penley of Lenoir and Sarah Jane Penley Osborne (Tracy) of West Jefferson; his siblings, Terry M. Penley (Wanda) of South Carolina, Larry E. Penley (Miriam) of Lenoir, Lowell G. Penley of Fleetwood, Mary J. Coffey of Lenoir and Lucille Triplett (Gary) of Mapel Grove; and his stepchildren, Bobby Greer of Fleetwood and Rachel Holsclaw of Fleetwood. He is also survived by five grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; thirteen great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
