He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Rufus and Neta Killian Smith; his wife Eula "Nadine" Greene Smith; and his siblings, Lawrence Smith, Carl Smith, Ruby Brown, Hazel Brown, Betty Smith Hamby Norris, Pauline Smith Denton and Eula Lingerfelt.
He is survived by: his children, Jeffrey Lloyd Smith (Anita) of Lenoir and Vicki Smith Shuping (David) of Morganton; his siblings, Wayne Smith of Lenoir and Mae Bell S. Hartley of Lenoir; his grandchildren, Christina Smith Good (Joseph) of Collettsville and Matthew Smith of Lenoir; and his great grandchildren, Nicholas Good, Cassie Good, Jaylyn Thomasson and Bentlee Smith. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
