He was predeceased by: his parents, James Benge and Willie Mae Anderson Elmore (Step Father); his son Rusty Benge; and his brothers, Bobby and Roger Benge.

He is survived by: his children, Scott Benge (Teresa) and Sandra McRary (Tracy); the mother of his children Sheila Hoyle Benge; his grandchildren, Bradley, Dillon Benge, Kirsten and Grace Hartley; and his sisters, Peggy Greene (Richard) and Tammy Benge Warren (Ken).

In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to Amorem Hospice 902 Kirkwood St NW, Lenoir, NC.
