He was predeceased by: his parents, Willard C. Pennington and Flossie Haga Pennington; and his siblings, Rosey Pennington, Jettie Huffman, Richard Pennington, Kenneth Pennington, Walter Pennington, Dean Pennington and Roy Pennington.
He is survived by: his wife Shirley M. Pennington; his children, Micheal E. Pennington (Amanda) of Lenoir, Patricia "Pat" G. Pennington of Lenoir, Karen P. Whitener (Ed) of Lenoir, Sandra P. Rich of Lenoir, Susan P. McFarland (Fred) of Lenoir and Sharon K. Pennington of Knoxville, TN; his siblings, Doug Pennington (June) of Chattanooga, TN, Stanley Pennington (Betty) of Lenoir and Oramae Thibodeau of Delaware; his grandchildren, Shawn Whitener, Richie Rich, Kyle McFarland, Rebecca Smith, Michelle Rich and Emily McFarland; his great grandchildren, Caleb, Griffin, Reuben, Nicholas, Isaac, Katie, Angelica, Logan and Kellie; and his great great grandchildren, Clayton, Charlie and Cole.
Due to COVID-19 the family will hold a private graveside service.
