He was predeceased by: his wife Nannie Neal Herring; and his children, Teresa Herring, Johnny "Rusty" Edward Herring Jr. (Shelia Herring) and Lois "Dinker" Turner (Kevin "Wayne" Turner). He is survived by: his son William "Billy" Herring; his grandchildren, Manda Herring, Amber Humphrey (Roger Humphrey), Samantha Herring (Joshua Lee), Westley Howard, Johnny "Trey" Herring (Anna Rouse), Mary "Allison" Herring, Justin Herring and William "Billy" Herring; his stepgrandchildren, Jacob, Joseph, Nicholas and Samantha; and his great grandchildren, Brantley, Waylon, Addison, Isaac and Landon.
