He was predeceased by: his parents, William Alex Picton and Elsie Nichvalodoff Picton; his wife Elna Agatha Picton; and his siblings, Alex, Gabriel Picton, Verna Picton, Lucille Pitsula and Francis Pitsula.
He is survived by: his children, John Mark Picton, Douglas William Picton and Ingrid Picton Moffie; his grandchildren, Sven Mark Picton, Stefen Jule Picton, Mitchell Douglas Picton, John Douglas Picton, Elna Elaine Picton and Jacqueline Michelle Wilson; and his great grandchildren, Suni Moon Picton, Julian James Ashton and Holden Michael Wilson.
The family respectfully requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to St. Stephens Lutheran Church, 1406 Harper Ave. Lenoir, NC 28645 and The Caldwell Senior Center, 650A Pennton Ave SW, Lenoir, NC 28645.
