He was predeceased by: his parents, John Thad Fox Sr. and Hattie Mask Fox Johnson; and his sisters, Shirley Simmons, Barbara Crump and Martha Coffey.

He is survived by: his children, Teresa Bentley (Joey) of Lenoir and Thad Fox of Greer, SC; his sister Ann Marie Epps of Winston Salem; his grandchildren, Jordan Kirby of Lenoir and Jacob Taylor of Lenoir; his stepchildren, Greg Johnson of Phoenix, AZ and Debbie Johnson Ammerman of Winston Salem; his great grandchildren, Deacon Kirby, Finley Kirby, Ryver Kirby, Blake Taylor and Kash Taylor; and his stepgrandchildren, Casey Johnson of Phoenix, AZ, Corey Warlick of Winston Salem and Jarred Bryant of Winston Salem. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that memorial be made to the Foothills Canine Rescue at P.O. Box 2746, Lenoir, NC 28645.
