He was predeceased by: his parents, Edgar "Ed" Norris and Bessie "Mam" Rush Norris; his wife Vivian Jones Norris; his siblings, Herman, Charles, Grim, Ernest Norris and Sally Norris; his great grandchild Dawson Uhl; and his nephews, Danny Norris and Matt Jones.
He is survived by: his children, John R. Norris II (Tina) of Morganton, Tammy Norris Effler (Dwayne) of Lenoir, Robin Jones (Tim) of Gamewell and Susan Mullins (Micheal) of Lenoir; and his siblings, Tom Norris (Emily) of Lenoir, Thurman Norris (Patsy) of Bristol, VA, Paul Norris (Betty) of Bristol, TN and Nora Branson (Bobby) of Bristol, VA. He is also survived by seven grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.
