He was predeceased by: his parents, Howard Smith and Dessie Robbins Smith; and his brothers, Infant Harold Smith and Steve Smith. He is survived by: his wife Charlotte Triplett Smith; his son Joey Smith (Debbie) of Lenoir; his grandchildren, Jessica Bumgarner (Jason) of Hudson and Nicholas Smith (Leah) of Waynesville; and his siblings, Roy Smith (Vera) of Darby, Larry Smith (Susan) of Buffalo Cove, Mac Smith (Patricia) of Lenoir, Roger Smith (Evelyn) of Buffalo Cove, Ralph Smith (Ann) of Buffalo Cove, Jackie Howell (Gordon) of Orlando, FL and Sue Marchisella of Lenoir. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
