He was loved and cherished by many people including: his spouse Ruby Chester Ervin; his granddaughter Amy Leigh Matheson of Lenoir; his daughters, Diane Ervin Matheson (Rick) of Lenoir and Gina Ervin of Lenoir; his siblings, Larry Ervin (Ramona) of Hickory and Brenda Ervin Whisnant of Lenoir; and his grandchildren, Chris Robbins (Suzy) of Clemmons, Jordan Main of Lenoir, Jaxson Ervin of Lenoir and Brooklyn Matheson of Lenoir. He was also cherished by his great-grandchildren, nephews, and nieces.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations may be sent to the Crestview Baptist Church Building Fund.
