She was predeceased by: her parents, John Wesley Bethea and Dorothy Williams Bethea; and her siblings, John Wesley Jr., Frank Bethea, Louise Breedon, Mary Ellen Saylor and Marjorie Bethea (Margie).
She is survived by: her children, Avery Horton Jr. of Lenoir, N. C., Amy Johnson (Michael) of Shelby, N. C., Ann Horton of Lenoir, N. C., April Horton of Durham, N. C. and Alice Horton of Hickory, N. C.; her grandchildren, Ella and Quincy Whitener of Hickory, N. C.; and her siblings, Inez Guyton, Alice Edge, Joann Arlander Smith and Willie George Bethea. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, friends.
