He was predeceased by: his parents, Joshua Franklin Barnes and Mamie Rosson Pearce Barnes; and his siblings, Charles, Daisy, Frank, Golden, Gordon, Hortense, John, Mamie Ruth, Marvin, Sarah, Shih Tzu and Miss Minnie.
He is survived by: his wife Martha Adams Barnes (Martie); his children, Debbie (Rob Eller), Dean, Brian and Dara (Lew Norman); his siblings, James and Ann; and his siblings-in-law, Kaye Wade, Helen Adams and Henry Wade. He is also survived by his wife, children, and grandson.
In order to protect everyone's health and safety, the family respectfully requests that everyone wear a mask.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be sent to Caldwell UNC Health Care (formerly Caldwell Memorial Hospital), First Baptist Church of Lenoir, or The Fred and Martie Barnes Endowment Fund at the Foundation of Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute.
