He was predeceased by: his parents, Fred Sides and Bessie Sides; his siblings, Bill, Earl, Don Sides, Mary Dean Norris, Norma Jean Caudle and Nina Hollars; his son Darrel Eugene Sides; and his stepgrandson Kelly Cowick.
He is survived by: his wife Dorothy St. John Sides of Lenoir; his sons, Eddie Sides (Glenda Sides) of Lenoir and Roger Sides (Geneva Hartley) of South Carolina; his grandsons, Jeremy Sides (Crystal Sides) and Tom Sides (Laura) of Arizona; his great grandchildren, Halia and Jaycee Sides; his sisters, Reba Rose and Brenda Dula (Bud Dula); his stepchildren, Jack McGuire, Jeffrey McGuire, David McGuire, Judy McGuire and Angela Cowick; and his stepgrandchildren, Adam McGuire, Shane McGuire, Jeff McGuire, Alexander Pinkerton, Amber Grout and MacKenzie Hartley.
