He was predeceased by: his father Euell Stafford; his wife Bernita Greer Stafford; his sister Marilyn Edwards; and his daughter Deanna Stafford Sparks. He is survived by: his sister Myra Stafford Mooney (Art) of Kannapolis, NC; his children, Sara Stafford Wright (William) and Eric E. Stafford (Cathy) of Lenoir, NC; his son-in-law Jerry Sparks (Kay) of Granite Falls, NC.; his grandchildren, Adam Sweet, Jonathon Jonas, Christopher Sweet, Tiffany Sparks Norman (Ben), Ethan Sparks (Pashence), Catlyn Auton and Brent Auton; and his great grandchildren, Aiden Sweet, Addison Sweet, Aleq Sweet, Hunter Sweet, Ian Sweet, Silas Norman, Bennett Norman, Weston Norman and Lucian Sparks.

The family requests that memorials be made to College Avenue Baptist Church, 1201 College Avenue SW, Lenoir NC 28645.
