He is survived by: his children, Jason Edward Mathes (Amy) of Sevierville, TN., Mason Thomas Mathes (Patricia) of Newton, NC. and Miranda Keeyon Mathes of Lenoir, NC.; and his sister Maggie Mathes Corpening of Lenoir, NC.. He is also survived by four grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
