He was predeceased by: his father Houston Walker; and his siblings, Fontene Walker and Linda Williams. He is survived by: his children, Edgar C. Walker, II (Stacy) of Georgia, Ronald Walker (Cindy) of Kannapolis and Dana Deitz (Todd) of Kannapolis; his girlfriend Betty Jo Greene of Lenoir; and his sisters, Mavis Wilder of Alabama, Ann Whitaker (Joe) of Alabama, Betty Washburn (Charles) of Alabama and Becky Cash (Marston) of Alabama. He is also survived by six grandchildren; nine step-grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
