He was predeceased by: his parents, Herman Lee Philyaw and Edith Shoemake Philyaw; his son Paul Allan Philyaw; and his sister Barbara Ann Harvey. He is survived by: his wife Helen Burchette Philyaw; his children, David Lee Philyaw Jr., Charles Ray Philyaw, Linda Writesman, Sherry Lovins (Richard) and Tonya Kilby (Cory); his daughters-in-law, Crystal Philyaw and Susan Philyaw; his sister Paula Bolick; and his pet Missy. He is also survived by Seventeen grandchildren, 16 Great Grandchildren (including 2 on the way), 4 Great Great Grandchildren.
