He was predeceased by: his father Claude W. Johnson Sr.; and his siblings, Roy "Cotton" Johnson and Wanda Tarleton. He is survived by: his wife Carolyn Jones Johnson; his son David Wyatt Johnson (Rena) of Lenoir; his brother Van H. Johnson (Evelyn) of Lenoir; his sister-in-law Glenda Byrd Johnson of Lenoir; and his grandson Tyler David Johnson. He is also survived by four nephews and two nieces.
