He is survived by: his wife Willa Dean Simmons Cardwell; his children, Charles W. Cardwell Jr., Joy Y Aldridge (Mike) of Granite Falls and Jill C Eckard (Kevin) of Lenoir; his grandchildren, Danny Aldridge of Lenoir and Kicia Smith of Lenoir; and his great grandchildren, Brianna Morey and Brooke Aldridge.
