He was predeceased by: his parents, William Hamby and Stella Hatton Hamby; his siblings, Bill Hamby, Bob Hamby, Jerry Hamby and Linda Hamby; and his son-in-law Jeff Collins.
He is survived by: his wife Carolyn Thompson Hamby; his children, Roger Hamby (Rhonda) of Granite Falls, Jackie Collins of Lenoir and Kim Kale (Terry) of Lenoir; his grandchildren, Crystal Sherrill (Weston), Ryan Hamby (Kayla), Colt Kale and Nathaniel Kale; his great grandchildren, Ryder Hamby, Kyler Hamby, Madalynn Sherrill and Lucy Sherrill; and his siblings, Johnny Hamby (Freda) of Flint, MI, Buddy Phelps of Lenoir, Frances Nichols of Lenoir, Mildred Carter (Claude) of Lenoir, Brenda Dellinger (Jack) of Morganton and Nancy Shatley of Lenoir.
