He was predeceased by: his parents, Walter Philyaw and Rosalie Crump Winebarger; and his siblings, Janice Laney, Joe and Clyde Philyaw.
He is survived by: his wife Patricia Philyaw; his children, Tracey Sadlowski (John) of Granite Falls, Alan Philyaw (Julie) of Lenoir and Jennifer Philyaw (Donald) of Lenoir; and his grandchildren, Mason Greene, Jon-Mykal Chester, Jozy Philyaw, Matthew Greene, Auston Philyaw, Carey Philyaw, Dakota Haskett and Jessi Williams. He is also survived by numerous great grandchildren.
A celebration of life was held on Wednesday, January 29th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the Chapel of Pendry's Lenoir Funeral Home (522 Wilkesboro Blvd NE, Lenoir, NC 28645).
