It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Betty Whitener Land (Lenoir, North Carolina), who passed away on July 12, 2022, at the age of 86, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Ruth Chester Opauski and Robert Zennie Chester; her former husband Paul Henry Whitener; her brothers, Gary Chester and Robert Chester; and her daughter-in-law Jessica Whitener.
She is survived by: her husband Douglas Land; her children, Paula Gentry (Jim) and Ethan Whitener; her stepsons, Jeff Land (Wendy) and Michael Land; her grandchildren, Robbie Crowell, Conor Crowell, Meredith Critelli (Nick), Isabella Nossiter (Corin), Sophia Whitener, Carson Land, Celeste Land and Carly Land; her great grandchild Paisley Nossiter; her sister Patty Bolick (Tom); her sisters-in-law, Nancy Chester and Sharon Chester; and her cousins, Holly Gilbert, Robin Healey, Shawn Smith and Tim Smith. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
