She was predeceased by: her parents, Henderson Stines and Rosa Lee Cottrell; her children, Danny Edward Cole and Sharon Kay Church; her granddaughter Misty Dawn Coffey; and her brothers, Gene Stines, Jesse Stines and Clyde Jr..

She is survived by: her husband Michael Wayne Severt; her child Shirley Payne (Colen) of Lenoir, NC.; and her siblings, Mary Fleenor, Francis Shew, James Cottrell, Josephine Stines and Larry Stines (Roy Stines). She is also survived by 16 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren and 8 great, great grandchildren, numerous nieces, and nephews.
