He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Clarence Russell and Ruth Gilbert Safford; his wife Vicki Davis Safford; and his stepchildren, Todd Philyaw (Shannon) of Burlington, Jason Philyaw (Erica) of Lenoir, Zac Philyaw (Joy) of Lenoir, Keith Hall (Hope) of Lenoir and Keila Blankenship (Chris) of Lenoir.

Due to COVID-19 a memorial service to honor the life of Allen will be held at a later date.
