He was predeceased by: his parents, Guy Gaither Surrett and Mary Ann Marler Wilde; his son Joe Surrett; his brothers, Albert Surrett and Lewis Surrett; and his nephew Mathew Bowers.
He is survived by: his wife Sue Bowers Surrett; his children, Jennifer Kennedy (Earl Sturgil) of Parrotsville, TN, Bobby Surrett II (Ashley) of Leicester, NC, Carl Surrett (Jamie) of Willow Spring, NC, Shelly Hamilton (Tony) of West Columbia, SC and Amanda Zielke (James) of Orlando, FL; and his sister-in-law Sharon Buckner of Arden, NC. He is also survived by 21 grandkids, 1 great grandson, 3 nephews, 4 nieces, and multiple great nieces and nephews.
