He was predeceased by: his parents, William Morris "Willie" Knowles and Ethel Lee Parrish Knowles; his sisters, Janice Gail Knowles and Shelby Knowles Hall; and his granddaughter Avery Brown.
He is survived by: his children, Barrett Brown of Spring Hill, Reid Griffin of Madison, NC, Preston Knowles of Washington, DC and Brandi Vaughn Smith of Reidsville; his grandchildren, Alana Brown, Briana Brown, Barrett Brown Jr., Nelson Smith and Marilyn Smith; his brother Weldon Keith Knowles (Louella) of Reidsville; and his brother-in-law Charles Hall of Reidsville. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
