He was predeceased by: his parents, Jerry Epling and Verna Belcher Epling; and his brothers, Daniel Epling, Robert Epling and Goble Epling.

He is survived by: his wife Betty June Goff Epling; his children, Mitchell Dean Epling, Timothy Dwight Epling of Roxboro, NC, Kara Michele Ellis of Sutherlin, VA and Harold Andrew Reedy of Hillsville, VA; and his siblings, Eugene Epling, Justine Wright, Cathy Sowards and Bobby Epling. He is also survived by eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

“I loved my brother so much ,Things will never be the same without him. I didn't get to see him much as we lived a long distance ,but my thoughts was always there.I just wish I could have been as good and caring as he was and I know he is in Gods hand now .He was always a very religious and caring person,My heart goes out to the family and I wish them the best and pray for his wife Betty and God look out after her.”
