She was predeceased by: her parents, James Henry Lunsford and Myrtle Simmons Lunsford; her husband Flaherty Hilton Oakes; her daughter Tonya Oakes; and her siblings, Willie T. Lunsford, J. H. Lunsford, Jr. (Pete), Evon L. Barnwell, Louise L. Willis and Wilma L. Stadler.
She is survived by: her sisters, Lula Belle Slade and Elaine Briggs (Wayne) of Yanceyville, N. C.; and her grandchildren, Kristie Powell of Danville, Mindi McBroom (Jeff) of Hurdle Mills, N. C., Daniel Powell of Jacksonville, N. C. and Whitney Powell of Leasburg, N. C.. She is also survived by five great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Pleasant Grove Cemetery Fund.
