She was predeceased by: her father Edward Lackey; her husband Benjamin "Frank" Merritt; her son James Edward Merritt; and her siblings, Marvin Lackey, Margaret Wall and Jerry Lackey.
She is survived by: her daughter Charlotte Speas of Winston-Salem; her daughter-in-law Patricia Merritt of Walkertown; her grandchildren, Christian Speas (Michelle) of Lewisville and Amy McPeak (Todd) of Germanton; her stepgrandchildren, Sheila Hester (James) of Belews Creek and Jeff Hunter (Janice) of Kernersville; her great grandchildren, Tanner McPeak (Lexi), Sloane McPeak, Davis and John Speas; her stepgreat-grandchildren, Jamie Griffith (James), Meagan Stone (Zack) and Michael Hunter; her great great grandchild Abigail Griffith; her niece Kaye Yokely (Tim); and also Meredith.
