He was predeceased by: his parents, Glenn E Houston and Pearl Gilliland Houston; his great grandchild Charlie Lee Towery; and his sisters, Glenda Teseniar and Shirley Houston.

He is survived by: his children, Tina Rector Buff (Danny) of Rutherford College, Terry Houston (Kim Orders) of Morganton, Keith Houston (Wendy) of Elgin, SC, Scott Houston (Sharon) of Casar and Jimmy Rector Jr. (Christon) of Valdese; his wife Mary Lou Rector Houston; and his sister Gayle of Morganton. He is also survived by twelve grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; two great great-grandchildren.
