He was predeceased by: his parents, James Ralston Costner and Elizabeth Bridges Costner; his wife Sara Bass Costner; and his son-in-law Chuck Montgomery. He is survived by: his children, Ronnie Costner (Pilar) of Kings Mountain, Pam Montgomery of Blacksburg, SC and Debbie Chapman (Scott) of Lawndale; his sisters, Frances Propst of Shelby, Betsy Biddle of Conyers, GA and Judy Walker of Shelby; and his grandchildren, Andy Montgomery (Shay), Jill Parker (Matt), Jessica Willey (Dave), Angela Bradley (Jeff) and Brayden Chapman (Samantha Lail). He is also survived by eight great-grandchildren.
